Richard Dormois

Upon graduation I joined the U.S. Air Force and enjoyed two tours in California and one in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia in the Air Police career field,  then a twenty year career with the Los Gatos, California police department.  I accepted a four year contract as Chief of Police in Caldwell, Idaho, then into gaming security in Nevada for ten years.  I have tried retirement in the Ozarks on a 500 acre place near Salem, Missouri, but it just didn't work for me.  I retired for the second time from the Arizona Superior Court System July 1, 2001 and since that time have devoted full time to the Studebaker Drivers Club, with a membership of 12,300 in North America and thirty two countries.  I have worn many hats with the organization over the years and have served as it's vice president since 2002.  My paramount passion is restoring per war Studebaker trucks and have enjoyed some measure of success in international competition.  It has been my pleasure to serve the club in virtually every state and province, having recently driven 1 1946 Studebaker business coupe from Concord, California to Fairbanks, Alaska and back on the Alcon Highway.  Recently, I have been instrumental in developing international Studebaker  meets in Dover,  Delaware,  Colorado Springs, Colorado, Springfield, Missouri, Glendale Arizona, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Omaha, Nebraska, and Spokane, Washington.  Look for our 2015 International meet in Maryland Heights, Missouri inspired by another Ritenour grad Don Lindner.

Other pursuits over the years have included building and operating a restaurant in Idaho and raising Aberdeen Angus Cattle in California and Idaho.  I graduated from the Missouri Auction School, just a stone's throw from the Ritenour Campus in 2007 and cry a dozen or so benefit auctions around the country each year.

Academic pursuits have earned associate, bachelors, and Master of Arts in criminal justice administration and post graduate certification in gaming and hotel management.

Currently, I contribute to several hobby publications and am the editor of "The Saguaro Sage" Antique Studebaker Club newspaper.

I am currently single and enjoy spending time with three children,  six grand children and two great grand children in California. Other hobbies include collecting 1/24 scale model trucks,  Studebaker memorabilia and depression era china and glassware.  Although I enjoy travel, retirement in Arizona is wonderful.
